February?

23 February, 2012

Okay, I know it’s still February, but I’ve begun my spring yard clean-up. And it’s unnerving.

It’s not that I mind going out there and getting started. I don’t. I love it. But it’s February. As in winter. As in New England.

All winter’s been like this. I’m not complaining, either. Not after last year’s snowmageddon. Or last October’s nor’easter. And as much as I like to shovel (I do, really), I’m not looking to do anymore until next winter.

Of course, now that I’ve said all this, watch we get a blizzard…

(By the way, it’s 60° out. And the sun feels so warm on my face. Just saying…)

This weather is crazy. We have had two days of 80 degrees. It’s warm in the house, but I will not turn on my AC. Tomorrow a front is coming through and bringing us down to the 60′s which is the normal for this month.
As far as yardwork, this morning I raked leaves that had fallen from a neighbor’s Cherokee oak. It is still has green leaves from last year on it! That poor tree is confused and way behind schedule.

The air conditioner? In February? I’m glad you didn’t turn it on. It’s the principle of the thing. There should be a rule: no AC in February. Raking, okay. But no AC.

Yesterday (the 23rd) it was 75 and we, too, were working in the yard in the afternoon. Slept with the ceiling fan on and the windows open. Temperatures will drop again tonight and for the next few days, but what a strange winter. I say don’t put away the snow shovel yet, though, Andrea. You know how fickle spring can be.

It’s a good thing you mentioned not putting the snow shovel away. It snowed overnight :)
